Over 5,000 lifeboat volunteers across the UK and Ireland are ready to answer the call to save lives at sea. From the moment their pagers sound, they know that every second counts. In Porthcawl, a fisherman has been dragged lifeless out of the sea by bystanders, and the lifeboat crew join the desperate attempts to resuscitate him. And in Portishead, a 30-tonne barge has broken down in the Bristol Channel - and is heading straight for the Prince of Wales Bridge.
