Comedy. In 1943, wartime rationing arrives on the remote island of Todday, Scotland. Residents are left reeling when the pub announces it has run out of whisky, which will no longer be resupplied by the mainland. As weeks of drought pass, morale on the island nosedives until a ship crashes off the coast, spilling a miraculous cargo of fifty thousand cases of whisky. Standing between the islanders and their favourite tipple are four opponents - a Home Guardsman, the local minister, a customs official and the sea - with whom they must engage in a Dionysian battle of wits
